Trump Card

I've mentioned before that 2009 was a year of shuffling around the map for the Furniss siblings. New homes, new cities, new adventures. Chapters closing and new chapters waiting to be written.

It wasn't a sudden trend. Mom and Dad have been updating addresses - Dad, likely in his Blackberry; Mom, on the sheet of contact information she keeps taped to the inside of the cereal cupboard - for the five of us since we got the nerve, the government-issued I.D., the desire, the gig, the acceptance letter, the transfer, the opportunity, the hair-brained idea or whatever other combination of factors resulted in a move. But I'll remember 2009 as an especially landmark year when it seemed the whole family was in a constant state of motion.

It's only appropriate that Mom and Dad should play the trump card in 2010 with an adventure of their own. Daejeon, Korea is one lucky city.

Truly, they have beaten you all at your own game. I'm so excited for those missionaries who get to meet Uncle Mark and Aunt Julie. Lucky ducks.

That's amazing! It takes a lot of courage to travel that far.

I had not thought of their move falling into the year of the Furniss Shuffle ( I think it may be a bit like the Bad, Bad Leroy Brown ). Ther farthest for the longest. Whew. I just love that shot of Mom and Dad!

Oh - and Parker had a talk in Primary today and talked about what it means to know that Joseph Smith was a prophet. He talked about Collin on his mission and Mom and Dad leaving soon because they all have that testimony. It was very sweet to hear and see what it means to him now.

That's so cool! OF COURSE your families are all over the globe. Australia, Korea, etc. If you ever visit them, you MUST learn this dance! It's the Asian version of the Macarena-none of my Taiwanese students understand Korean but they ALL danced to it!

scratch that last thought, this Sorry Sorry song is apparently more 'Thriller' than Macarena. Check this out:

That is SO exciting! My dad (who served his mission in Pusan) will be jealous. Only of the living-in-Korea part, not the Mission Pres. part....ha ha ha.
I don't know your parents but I know they will have a BIG impact on their missionaries.

Your family is very blessed. It is not fun to have your parents so far for so long but you won't believe the blessings you will get while they are away. Everything will seem to go right in your life. It is awesome. And with skype, email, webcam, vonage, etc, you can still communicate nearly as frequently as you do now (plus a few time difference issues). I guess you know where your next anniversary trip will be! Congrats though. It really is a blessing.
